Obituary of Joy Patricia Lawton
Joy Lawton, resident of Beaverlodge, Alberta, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the Beaverlodge Hospital, at the age of 72 years.
Joy the Scottish Angel was born on the Irish holiday on March 17, 1951, in Calgary, Alberta. She was raised in Calgary and moved to the farm in High River, AB when she was around 6 years old. Joy graduated from High River Highschool. She worked at the Post Office in Calgary where she met Dale. She then went on to drive school bus for the next 20 years in Red Deer, AB, and Grande Prairie, AB, also reffing basketball in Grande Prairie.
Joy’s largest interest and greatest attribute was her love for her family, she heavily invested all her energy into them right until she closed her eyes each day, and finally forever. She took great pleasure in spending time with them all.
Joy was a humble, salt of the earth, but strikingly strong working farm girl. The farm never left this girl as she grew her family of five. Joy spent much of her time on this land growing her family of three children. She enjoyed gardening everything from flowers to anything else that grew. She loved hockey, especially the Calgary Flames. Joy was very competitive when it came to sports when she was younger. She also had a lot of love for horses.
Joy will be sadly missed by her husband Dale Lawton; children: Keri (Jason) Unger, Darren (Terri) Lawton, and Tyler (Nicole) Lawton; grandchildren: Kierstin (Chris) Lawton, Brittany Gorman, Taylor (Jordan) Lawton, Colton (Julia) Michel, Colby Gorman, Hannah Michel, Mason Lawton, Tiana Unger, and Terran (Madison) Johnson; great-grandchildren: Kaleb (Graham) Lawton, Desiree (Graham) Lawton, and Madilyn Johnson; and her brother Alan James Jewell.
She was predeceased by her mother Edith (McCallum) Jewell, her father Alvin Harold, and her brothers Norman Jewell, and Sterling (Janetta) Bates.
A Memorial Service for Joy will be announced at a later date.
