Obituary of Martin Schuller

Martin Schuller Jr. was called to the fields of Heaven on Saturday, April 29, 2023, in Hythe, Alberta, at the age of 88 years.

 

Martin was born in Rode, Romania, on October 16, 1934, and immigrated to Canada in 1949, with his father, mother, and sister Trudy.  Martin’s brother John was born in 1950.

 

Martin and Lynda were married on October 6, 1961. They were blessed with four sons, Bob, Don, Tony, and Darcy.

 

Martin has three grandchildren, Sarah, Amanda, and Nathan, as well as three great-grandchildren, Gray, Cade, and Luka.

 

Martin spent every winter coaching hockey, running his boys and other kids, all over the country to play. He was deeply involved with the Hythe Athletic Association and Minor Hockey.

 

He was a farmer at heart, grain, and cattle. He served as a board member with United Grain Growers.

 

Martin had a love for travel, and they toured many parts of the world. Lynda was right by his side, indulging his passion and ensuring he was well taken care of. Martin loved to fish and took his boys often with their Pocket Fisherman, and then later in life, Martin and Lynda spent many summers fishing in Alaska for Halibut with their family.

 

Martin will be deeply missed by his loving wife Lynda; son Bob, (Leah), granddaughter Sarah, and great-grandson Gray; son Don, daughter-in-law Kim (Tony), granddaughter Amanda (Carter) great- grandsons Cade, Luka, and grandson Nathan (Melissa); brother John Schuller (Diane), and sister Trudy (Heinz) Hieber; he will be greatly missed by in-laws: Martin and Glenis Allen, Jim and Brenda Borden, Wayne, and Jenny Borden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who meant so much to him.

 

Martin was predeceased by his mother and father Martin and Sara Schuller, mother, and father-in-law, Lee and Sarah Borden, son Darcy, son, Tony, brother-in-law Heinz Hieber, as well as sister-in-law Karen Borden.

 

Memorial Donations may be made to the Hythe Athletic Association (Box 182, Hythe, AB, T0H 2C0), or a charity of one’s choice.
