Obituary of Frank John Sawchuk

Frank John Sawchuk, a long-time resident of Hinton Trail, AB, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Beaverlodge Hospital, Beaverlodge, AB, at the age of 87 years.

 

Frank was born in Elmworth, AB, on December 29, 1935, to Jan and Franciszka Sawchuk. Frank married the love of his life, Julie Argyle, on April 4, 1959. Spending 64 years together farming their land in the Hinton Trails area, while raising their 4 wonderful children.

 

In his younger years Frank loved being outdoors, snowmobiling and working with his horses and cattle on the farm. Sundays were for family, church, and picnics with friends. His love for the outdoors continued throughout the latter years of his life, camping and quadding with his wife Julie, and many friends who were like family.

 

Frank will be sadly missed by his wife Julie; their four children: Cheryl (Dwayne) Robinson, Brian Sawchuk, Brent (Janet Wallace) Sawchuk, and Marcia (Tab) Cuthill; grandchildren: Tyler (Vicki) Robinson, Chelsea (Wayne) Wickens, Paden Cuthill, and Colton Cuthill; step grandchildren: Lindsey and Sarah Wallace; great-grandchildren: Alexander, Autumn, Jade, and William Wickens, Zachary, and Alison Robinson; sister Florence (George); sisters in-law: Olga Donna, and Jenny Sawchuk, as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

He was predeceased by his parents Jan and Franciszka Sawchuk, siblings: Joseph, Pete, John, and Steve Sawchuk, Albena Sewell, Mary Burns, and Philippa Anderson.

 

A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, with a Prayer Service taking place from 7:00 – 7:30 pm, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (1107 1 Ave. West Beaverlodge). All are welcome to attend.

 

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 11:00 am, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A Luncheon will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment to follow the Luncheon at the Rio Grande Cemetery.

 

The family would like to thank the Beaverlodge Hospital for the great care Frank received during his short stay. To all the staff, nurses, and caregivers we are forever grateful for the way our husband/dad/grandfather/great-grandfather was cared for.
