Obituary of Aganetha Hildebrand

Nettie (Aganetha) Hildebrand, a resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the QE II Hospital with family by her side at the age of 66 years. Nettie was born on October 10, 1946 in Altona, Manitoba to parents Aganetha (Nettie) and Peter Hildebrand. In spite of her mental and physical disabilities Nettie lived life large until she was ravaged by her illness and lost her mobility. She was a passionate advocate for recognizing the value of all people with disabilities and was part of a movement to stop labeling the people who had them. Nettie coined a famous quote: "Don't label people, label jars!" Nettie was predeceased by her mother Nettie Hildebrand, sister Elma Tota, and sister-in-law Rita Hildebrand. Nettie leaves behind to celebrate her life with her father Peter Hildebrand, sisters Susan (Larry) Loberg, Trudi (Osmond) Graham, and brother Frank (Valerie) Hildebrand, along with many nieces nephews, and her longtime friends Brian and Mary Rush of Winnipeg and Jim Wright from Grande Prairie.
