Obituary of Mary Vant Erve

Maria (Mary) Vant Erve, a long-time resident of Beaverlodge, AB, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020, in Hythe, AB, at the age of 94 years. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her dearly including her 7 children Henry (Barb), Ginny (Robert), Bert (Debbie), Mary Ann, Ria, Margaret and Liz (Dean); her 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Albert, and great-granddaughter, Tasha. Mary was born in Holland and immigrated to Canada with her husband when she was 26. It was on a dairy farm outside of Beaverlodge where they settled and raised their family. Mary loved many things in life including her family, the Netherlands, Hockey Night in Canada, knitting, chocolate, reading, music, flowers, the colour blue, and walking around the Beaverlodge Research Station. She especially loved a good cup of coffee with a shot of Baileys. Mary was a proud member of the Catholic Women’s League for 68 years and a dedicated parishioner at St. Mary’s Church. Mary will be remembered for her wit, sense of humour, strength, deep faith, and warm, generous heart. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at St. Mary’s Church in Beaverlodge, Alberta. Due to the restrictions related to COVID-19, the service is for immediate family only. The mass will be live-streamed for those who are interested in watching. You can view it on the Beaverlodge Funeral Service Facebook page. Mary will be laid to rest at the Beaverlodge Cemetary following the service.
