Obituary of Gladys Van Eaton

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gladys Van Eaton on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in Beaverlodge, Alberta surrounded by her loving family. Gladys Edna was born in Beauvallen, Alberta in 1935 to Sam and Mary Slusarenko. Gladys will be fondly remembered by her jams and pickled garlic and carrots that she sold at the local markets. She was an avid fisherwoman and often had contests with family about who caught the biggest and most fish. Gladys was predeceased by her mother and father, and her brother Mike (Joy). Gladys is survived by her husband Arnold, her children Ric (Anne), Sandra (Grant), Roger (Shelly), and Loreen (Pat), along with 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, as well as her brothers Ed Slusarenko and Johnny (Roberta) Slusarenko, sisters Evelyn Tucker, Kathy (Clyde) Evens and Judy (Jodey) Melashanko, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gladys’s family will announce a service date later in the spring. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Gladys to the Hythe & District Pioneer Home, PO Box 388 Hythe, AB T0H2C0.
