Obituary of Raymond "Big Papa" D'Aoust
Ray "Big Papa" D’Aoust, a long time resident of Beaverlodge, Alberta passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 in Beaverlodge at the age of 77 years. Ray loved pancakes smothered in syrup (and a little bit more syrup), picking huckleberries in the mountains, fishing (anywhere), Forrest Gump, pie and ice cream, a nice shirt and a really good pair of boots (even if they were yours). Ray is best remembered and loved dearly by his nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers, for telling his (short and sweet) stories, driving his quad way too fast, and getting it too muddy(!), reminding you that you are pretty darn special, and his appropriate exclamations of "I'll Be Jiggers", and "Your Darn Toot'n" could always make you smile. His number one rule was: A good cup of coffee and a cookie can fix anything. Hard work, determination, a moral compass, taking care of others and a good dog were the foundation of Ray's life. Ray imprints the hearts of those who knew him with unconditional love, compassion and kindness. His infinite love for his wife Rhoda, his family and his friends is forever and ever and ever in our hearts. Ray reminded us to live in the moment, slow down a bit, appreciate the simple things, and to live with integrity and truth. Ray's passion for elk ranching, all God's creatures, whittling wood and gardening were his joy, his comfort and his pride. Ray shared an avid passion for the wilderness and aviation with his oldest grandson, Braymond, and they will soar the skies together, as forever his co-pilot. Ray lives on in the hearts of his family; his wife and soul mate Rhoda, his children Rayleen (Paul), Riley and Rene, his grandchildren: Courtney (Shane), Bray (Crystal), Cassi (Jesse), Max, Dallas, Tyler and Landis, along with fourteen great grandchildren, his brothers Don (Chris) D'Aoust, Alan (Chris) D'Aoust, and Rob (Aileen) D'Aoust. With respect to Ray’s wishes, no formal service will be held. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Ray to the Beaverlodge Hospital Foundation, PO Box 480 Beaverlodge, AB T0H0C0. Very Respectfully Beaverlodge Funeral Service
