Melvin Gass, a long time resident of Valhalla Centre, Alberta passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Beaverlodge, Alberta at the age of 77 years. Mel is survived by his loving wife Joyce of 57 years, sons; Rob (Barb), Don (Dorothy), Darrell (Deannie), siblings; Paul, Norm (Heather), Leroy (Charlotte), Laverne (Butch), Gil (Darlene) and their families, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to say a very special thanks to Duncan and Marilyn. Mel was predeceased by his parents Frank and Maggie, step-father Paul Hegel, in-laws Caryl and Betty Jordan, brother-in-law; Allen, sister- in-law Heather, niece Darlene and great-niece Cassidy. He had a voracious appetite for reading and learning and seemed to remember everything he read. Mel had many adventures as he trucked all over Canada and USA and always seemed to take all of life’s curves in stride. He was so happy to be able to return to the Peace Country to farm with his brothers and be with all of his family. We will always remember his big powerful hands but will miss his gentle loving heart. The family will announce a memorial service at a later date.
