Obituary of Frances Irene Waldroff
Frances Waldroff, a long time resident of Wembley, Alberta passed with peace and grace on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 surrounded by her family in Beaverlodge at the age of 85 years. Frances Irene was born on November 21, 1931 in Dauphlin, Manitoba to parents Isaac and Annetta Rogers. She knew from the very beginning that she was going to marry Freddie Waldroff, and she did. She spoiled him until the day he died, and he always maintained that the Ol' Lady was a great cook. She spent her life taking care of him and her four children, and she was very good at it. Nobody left Grandma's house without a snack that was more like a meal. When the family moved to the Grande Prairie area, she took a job as a bus driver. She said that she couldn't reach the gas pedal, so she had to use a piece of wood to hold it down. She ensured the safe delivery of kids to school for many years. She said one of the best decisions she ever made was to retire at the same time Fred did. It gave them a lot of time to spend together making their hobby farm a busy, bustling place full of animals, antique tractors, and trees. Fran had a green thumb, and loved to be among all of the colours of her flowers. She also loved all of the birds, both wild and that she kept as pets that she came into contact with over her lifetime. Some of the talking birds may have developed a questionable vocabulary, which made her smile. She loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing made her happier, in the later years, than her great grandson throwing his toys all over her living room, not always missing her. Frances was predeceased by her husband Fred Waldroff, her brother Ron Rogers, parents Isaac and Annetta Rogers, her daughter Terran Dawn Waldroff, and her granddaughter Kimberly Dawn Hujdic. Left to memorialize Frances in their actions and thoughts are her sisters Maxine (Elgin) Chute and Norma (Leonard) Thiele, her brother Ray (Judy) Rogers, her daughter Wendy (Arnold) Hujdic and their family, Ronald (Kim, Madison) Hujdic, Clinton Hujdic and Stacey Hujdic (Daigo Kobayashi), her son Randy (Cathy) Waldroff and their family, Rick Waldroff (Chrystal Wenzel), Brad Waldroff, Trevor (Kim, Josh and Emma May) Galla, and Spencer Galla, her daughter Marla Hujdic and her family, Tanis (Ben) Driedger and Rob Hujdic, and her son Craig (Kim) Waldroff and their family, Amanda Waldroff and Tiffany Waldroff (Dan Gibbard, Kynan Waldroff and Kylo Gibbard). With respects to Frances’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Frances was laid to rest with her husband Freddie in the Halcourt Cemetery. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Frances to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, #109 10126-120th Avenue Grande Prairie, AB T8V8H9, or to the South Peace Centennial Museum Association, PO Box 493 Beaverlodge, AB T0H0C0. Very Respectfully Beaverlodge Funeral Service
