Obituary of Robert Berthold Kaut

Robert Berthold Kaut went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Grande Prairie Care Centre, Alberta at the age of 93 years. Robert was born to August and Emilie Kaut on March 22, 1922 in the village of Bukowerwald, north of Lublin, Poland. Robert was the youngest of fourteen children. He entered God’s Kingdom of Grace in his baptism and publicly confessed his faith in Jesus Christ when he was confirmed. Robert spent the first eighteen years of his life working as a farm laborer starting at the early age of seven. When he reached his eighteenth birthday, the German occupying army in Poland drafted him and he spent five years fighting primarily on the eastern front. After the war, Robert met and married Elizabeth Strohm in Germany. They decided to immigrate to Canada with their children and settled near Grande Prairie. Robert and Elizabeth bought a farm and raised their four children, setting tremendous examples of hard work and dedication as a goal for their children and, later, for their grandchildren. Robert enjoyed playing cards, attending St. John’s Lutheran Church and looking after his farm and other investments. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 2001, his great-grandson Fraser in 2009 and has now joined them in heaven; along with his parents, and all thirteen of his siblings. Robert leaves to mourn his passing his children: Jurgen(Donna), Ursula(Doug), Agnes(John) and Heidi (Harold), twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Pope for the wonderful care that he provided to Dad over many years. Also thanks to the staff of GPCC for their care in the last year. A Funeral Service for Robert Kaut was held on April 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wembley, Alberta. Pastor Ken Eifert officiated. Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery. For friends so wishing, donations made be made in memory of Robert to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Box 339, Wembley, AB T0H 3S0. By his own admission, Robert was a believer and had an enduring faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life. His faith served him well during his life, especially the first twenty-five years of labor and threats to his life during the war. By God’s grace through faith, Robert is now at home in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To God be all honor and glory. Very Respectfully Beaverlodge Funeral Service
