Craig Clarke

Obituary of Craig Allan Clarke

Craig Clarke, a resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with diabetes on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in Grande Prairie surrounded by family at the age of 52 years. Craig's work varied throughout his life, but his greatest achievements were of his own hands. He fancied himself as a bit of a chef and with this skill he found employment in some of the most elegant hotels and restaurants. He was adventurous and fearless, hitching his was across the country. He was also an artist, leaving his mark in several apartments in Fort St. John. He enjoyed painting and woodworking, using only the vision of an image in his mind. His passion for woodworking and cabinetry helped to develop his keen eye for antiques and collectibles. The family extends their heartfelt thanks for the care of Craig to the health care professionals of the Grande Prairie QEII Hospital Palliative Care Unit, the Points West Palliative Care Unit and the team of Doctors and Nurses that have taken the time to get to know and care for Craig during his illness. Words cannot express the appreciation that the family has for the staff of the Grande Prairie QEII Renal Dialysis Unit, and his Alberta Health Home Care Nurse Marie Prout for her kindness and attention to Craig. Craig was predeceased by his father James (Buddy) Clarke. Craig leaves to mourn his passing: his children; Stephanie, Ryan and Seanna of whom he was so proud, his mother Shirley Clarke, brothers; Rick (Debbie), Bradley (Susan), Bruce (Maureen), and James (Michelle), his sisters; Brenda (Mark White), and Barb (Don Kohuch). Craig will also be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Craig was laid to rest in the Montney Cemetery. No formal funeral service will be held. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Craig to the Grande Prairie QEII Renal Dialysis Unit in care of the QEII Hospital Foundation, 10409-98 Street Grande Prairie, AB T8V2E8.
