Brian Wheeler

Obituary of Brian Robert Pierce Wheeler

Brian Robert Pierce Wheeler passed away unexpectedly in a vehicle accident on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the age of 44. Brian was a resident of Tomslake, B.C., formerly from Grande Prairie, AB, Ontario, and proudly from Newfoundland.

Brian was born on September 3, 1980, in St. John, Newfoundland. He is the son of Wilson (2013) and Annabelle Wheeler. The family settled in Burgoynes Cove, Newfoundland, until Brian was a teenager. Life in Newfoundland taught Brian many things: hunting, fishing, the value of family, firewood, and the danger of getting caught jumping the ice pans. The family then settled in Ontario where Brian did various jobs, but his favourite was a tow truck operator. One by one the family moved out west, settling in Grande Prairie.

Brian was the brother of Gladys (John) Kent, Corey Wheeler, and Paul (Cindy) Wheeler. He loved being an uncle to Chelsea Kent, Johnney Kent, Anna Wheeler, Zach Hollingshead, Kameron and Kasey Kent, William, Emma, Kinsley Standerwick, and John Ari Kent.

Brian leaves behind his wife and partner of 14 years, Jane Wheeler, along with Glen Baker, Gord (Jade) Baker, and children Marley, Macklin, Emerson, Raymond (Victoria) Baker, and Elliana. Brian adored his new granddaughter Elliana, and she was his “little ball of cuteness.”

Besides a huge hole in our families and hearts, Brian leaves a hole in the lives of the many friends who loved him. He was loved by many! Brian is known as a jokester, he made you laugh, a true redneck, hard-working, and amazingly generous guy. He was always helping someone.

Brian was a trucker since 2005, starting out as a wire-liner and then onto moving equipment, which he fondly called “Tonka trucks”, hauling logs, and delivering cement, he lived a lot of his life on the road. One boss said if there was mud or snow, you want Brian driving. His passion was building and woodworking, he made beautiful furniture. When he was not on the road, he was on his farm building something or playing with the chickens and cows.

Brian loved Jesus and had a confident faith that he walked in. Jesus loved him.

They felt a call to move to Tomslake three years ago and they moved out to the bush.

What an adventure it’s been. Starting with nothing, Brian and his family, his friends and his bosses and co-workers, and even strangers have poured sweat equity into this place to make it a home.

Brian got a vision, maybe a command, to build a chapel it was downloaded into his head. Plans, dimensions, the whole thing, and he started. It is half completed at this time, many folks have come and joined in the project.

A celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 3:00 pm, at the Beaverlodge Alliance Church (4069 10th Street), in Beaverlodge, AB, with interment to follow at the Hythe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, we would like to honor Brian by completing the Chapel and ask that you consider donating to The Brian Wheeler Chapel fund cash or cheques may be sent to Jane Wheelers' name (PO Box 140, Tomslake, BC, V0C 2L0) or e-transfer to wheelerjane222@gmail.com.
