Obituary of Frank Stotz
Frank Ervin Stotz passed away peacefully at the Beaverlodge Hospital in Beaverlodge, AB, on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the age of 92 years.
Frank was born to John and Elizabeth Stotz on October 10, 1931 in Eckville, AB. He was the eldest of five children followed by Yvonne, John, Betty, and Rodger. They lived on a farm in the Leslieville, AB, area.
In 1953 Frank met Mary Hutchison from Lacombe, AB. They were married in 1954 and quickly started their family. Frank and Mary were blessed with three daughters, Mary Anne, Dawn, and Susan. Just before their girls started school, Frank and Mary moved to Black Diamond, AB, which they called home until retirement.
Frank worked in the seismic industry doing various jobs from trucking to being the party manager. His work took him on many great adventures to places all over North America. During his career, he met and made many lifelong friends.
Some of Frank’s favourite activities were fishing, camping, gardening, being outdoors as well as visiting with family and friends.
Frank and Mary retired in 1998 and moved to Beaverlodge where they created a very pleasant life. Frank loved the farm life! Frank and Mary had a huge garden, he built Mary a large greenhouse, and himself quite the workshop. Thankfully he left us with all his digits (LOL) mind you some were a little shorter!
Frank was the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back or lend a hand wherever needed. He touched the hearts of those he met and will be deeply missed by his wife of 69 years Mary; daughters Mary Anne (Gordon) Trites, Dawn (Rick) Calvert, Susan (Brent) Calvert, and chosen daughter Barbara Empey; grandchildren Alysha (Travis) Martin, Brandon (Nikki) Calvert, Mark (Levy) Adams, Greg (Jennifer) Calvert, Tasmin (Sarfo) Darko and Deana (Cole) Imler; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister Yvonne (Warren) and Brother Rodger (Marilyn); as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Frank was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and John, brother John, sister Betty, and his eldest grandson David (Sabrina) Adams.
A very casual Celebration of Life will be held on April 22, 2024 at Dawn and Rick's garden house in Beaverlodge. It is a come-and-go function starting at 3 pm. Everyone is welcome. Family interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beaverlodge Hospital Foundation (PO Box 480 Beaverlodge, AB, T0H 3C0)
