Jake Bartsch, resident of Hythe, AB, formerly of Lymburn, AB, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the Beaverlodge Hospital, at the age of 89 years.

Jake was born July 13, 1934, in Hague, SK. Later, he moved to Lymburn, where he grew up with his five siblings. Jake married Anne Lowen on November 24, 1956. In 1957 Elma was born, followed by Ernie in 1960. Marilyn completed the family in 1963. Jake and Anne celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Jake will always and lovingly be remembered by his children: Elma (Harvey) Mackie, Ernie (Cathy) Bartsch, and Marilyn (George) Funk; grandchildren: Miranda (Cody) Brown, Dayleen (Jeff) Stewart, Jolene Tod, Loyd Bartsch, Deanna (Ryan) Funk, and Kelsey (Travis) DeSchipper; great-grandchildren: Chase Siemens, Nate Siemens, Cayden Stewart, Garret Stewart, Evelyn Tod, Jacqueline Tod, Audrey Tod, Henry DeSchipper, and Marlowe Funk; siblings: Marie Lowen, Tina (Ole) Bakkehaug, David (Ivy) Bartsch; in-laws Arnold Ladwig, Susie Bartsch, Tina Pierson, Margaret (Jake) Peters, David (Shirley) Lowen, Frank (Trudi) Lowen, and Torger Torgerson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Jake was predeceased by his wife Anne Bartsch, parents George and Aganetha Bartsch, parents-in-law John and Justina Lowen, brother John Bartsch, sister Anna Ladwig, granddaughter Jessica Funk, grandson Kelly Siemens, and great-grandchild Taylor August.

An Interment will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 11:00 am, at the Salem Mennonite Cemetery, Lymburn. Pastor Ria Millwater to Officiate. Celebration of Life to follow at 12:00 pm, at the Lymburn Hall (Twp Rd 734 RR124) with Pastor Ria Millwater and Pastor Jim Rilling to Officiate. Luncheon to follow.

Memorial donations can be made to the Hythe Pioneer Home. Donations will go towards air conditioning in the dining and recreation areas (Box 390 Hythe, AB, T0H 2C0).
