Obituary of Bryon W. Calvert

Bryon W. Calvert, long-time resident of Beaverlodge, AB, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Beaverlodge Hospital, at the age of 82 years.

Bryon was born in Vermilion, AB, on February 14, 1941. In May 1960, upon graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Lillian Thompson, and moved to Beaverlodge to begin their life together.

When Bryon wasn’t at the store, he was coaching and playing sports of all kinds including golf, curling, and softball. He loved spending time camping with his family and friends, especially at his cabin on the Wapiti River. He was known as a great organizer of coffee breaks, and card games, to socialize with those around him. Bryon was an avid supporter of his community and believed that if you couldn’t get it in Beaverlodge, you didn’t need it.

Bryon leaves behind his three children: Denise Klassen, Brent (Susan), and Kevin (Meagan); grandchildren: Brandon (Nikki), Dalin Klassen, Justin Klassen, Autumn (Lane Gerow), and Ranen (Taci Trudeau); great-grandchildren: Jaylen Gossen (Amber), and Andrew (Elana) Calvert; brother Rick (Dawn) Calvert; sister-in-law Shirley Calvert; brother-in-law Tom (Jane) Thompson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bryon was predeceased by his loving wife Lillian in 1995; his father Rand; mother Bertha; father-in-law Thomas Thompson; mother-in-law Ethel Thompson; brother Don; sisters-in-law: Florence (Joe), Eileen (George), Muriel (Cliff), and Lucille (Jim); and son-in-law Greg Klassen.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 1:00 pm, at the Beaverlodge Alliance Church (409 10^th St,). Pastor Greg Clark to Officiate. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Beaverlodge, with a luncheon to follow.
