With heavy hearts, the family announces the peaceful passing of Les Wallan, on Thursday, December 7, 2023, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 82 years.

Leslie John Wallan was born on January 6, 1941, on the Ranch in Goodfare, AB. He was the third of six children born to Wally and Mary Wallan.

Les married Nora Kjemhus on January 7, 1961, and a few short months later their first son Ricky was born in June, followed by Carey in May 1962, Kevin in June 1963, Barry in August 1964, and lastly Wade in July 1968, completing their family. Les and Nora shared 61 married years together surrounded by many friends and loving family.

Les was predeceased by his wife Nora on August 6, 2022; their son Kevin on January 27, 2001; his parents Wally and Mary; siblings: Viola (Allan) Atkinson, Glenn (Joanne) Wallan, and Doreen Murphy; parents-in-law Nils and Jorann Kjemhus; brothers-in-law Finn (Bethel) Kjemhus and Ole (Bernice) Kjemhus; as well as sister-in-law Gunda Napen.

Les will be lovingly remembered by his children: Rick (Jackie), Carey (Renee), Barry (Carla), and Wade (Helen); his daughter-in-law Sherri (Alan Wenzel); 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters: Faye Grimm and Betty (Elmer) Valin; brothers-in-law: Arnie (Lila) Kjemhus, Harold (Faye) Kjemhus, and Norman (Margo) Kjemhus, and Lawrence Napen; along with numerous lifelong friends, and extended family.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the Hythe Legion (9818 100 Ave). Pauline Haycock to Officiate. A private family interment will take place at the Gimle Cemetery where Les will be laid to rest beside Nora, Kevin, and his parents.
