It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Mom passed away peacefully at the Beaverlodge Hospital on Sunday, June 21, 2026, to join her husband and best friend, Bert.

She is survived by her five sons, Darrell (Sylvia), Gord (Darcie), Brad (Liz), Terry (Grace), and Laurie (Janeen); 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her sister, Ruby Reed; and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on August 15, 1932. She grew up in the Hythe area, where she spent her entire life. She married Albert Jones on August 15, 1952, and they raised their five sons together.

Mom worked hard raising her family and helping on the farm. She was an avid gardener and baker. She grew beautiful flowers, especially her peonies, and always had fresh bread, buns, cookies, and the best rhubarb squares. Mom found joy in her family and contentment in all her hard work. She loved to crochet and made afghans for all her boys and grandkids. Each of the grandkids got to choose their preferred colours.

Mom kept busy being a volunteer. She was very involved in her church, helping with many fall suppers and whatever was needed. She was part of the Pioneer Museum and could be found in the kitchen baking bread, making ice cream, and serving customers. She helped at the Golden Age Centre, a place where she enjoyed playing cards and visiting with her friends. She also helped out with the Hythe Fair and would often enter some of her many talents.

Mom moved from her home in October 2014 and spent her final years in the Hythe Pioneer Home and the Hythe Continuing Care Centre. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at those facilities, as well as the Beaverlodge Hospital, for the exceptional care given to Mom.

There will be no service for Mom, as she never liked being the center of attention.

Our dear mother will be laid to rest in the Hythe Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Bert.
