Glenn Allen Walsh Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenn Allen Walsh, who left us after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Glenn passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends, who remained by his side until his final moments.

Glenn was born and raised in Sydney, Nova Scotia, where he built the foundation of the kind, hardworking, and loyal man so many came to know and love. In time, he ventured west to Grande Prairie, Alberta, and later settled in Beaverlodge, where he made a life filled with meaningful work, cherished friendships, and deep family connections.

He will be forever remembered by his soulmate and loving wife, Jacqueline (Hawco) Walsh, whose unwavering support and love were the cornerstone of his life. They spent so much of their lives travelling, making memories together, and Jacqueline will continue to do so with Glenn in her heart.

Glenn was a proud and devoted father to Mary (Norman) Earle, April Walsh (Ronnie), Crystal Walsh (Jamie), and his pride and joy, Jonathan Walsh (Viktoria).

Glenn’s greatest happiness came from his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He adored his grandchildren Jenna (Tyler), Maggie (Jesse), Tyler (Eliana), Tiffany, Jamie, Felix, Veronica, and Beau, and his great-grandchildren Hazen, Mabel, Parker, and Ira. Whether through visits, FaceTime calls, or sharing photos and laughter, Glenn treasured every moment spent making memories with his “littles.” He was the best Papa to them all!

He is also lovingly remembered by his father-in-law, Jack Hawco; brothers, Barry and Tommy; sisters-in-law, Cathy, Marina, Darlene, and Valda; brothers-in-law, Norman, Michael, Dave, Blair, and Ramsay; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Avril Walsh, brother John, his only sister, Lucina, and mother-in-law, Mary Hawco (Nunna).

Glenn built a long and dedicated career, beginning at Stream, continuing with EDS, and spending his final 15 years with Northern Mat and Bridge. Along the way, he formed genuine, lasting friendships and left a positive mark on everyone he worked with. To Glenn, his work family included everyone he met, with many becoming lifelong friends. He was always there to support others, and in his final days, that same kindness was returned to him, as friends surrounded him with comfort, compassion, and love.

Outside of work, Glenn found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. He loved spending time on the Mira with family, soaking in the peace and beauty of the moments shared. He also enjoyed a good game of cards, camping, and fishing. A passionate sports fan, Glenn cheered faithfully for the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Blue Jays, never missing an opportunity to celebrate a big play or a hard-fought game.

Glenn will be remembered for his strength, his sense of humour, his deep love for his family, and the genuine connections he made with everyone around him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the memories that will be cherished forever.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

As per Glenn’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at Glenn and Jacqueline’s home, 308–11th Avenue, Beaverlodge, Alberta, on Saturday, April 4, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
