Noreen Frances Meggitt, resident of Beaverlodge, AB, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital, at the age of 85 years.
Noreen was born on February 10, 1940, in Vancouver, BC, to Frank and Mildred Bennison. She was raised in Summerland, BC, where she also attended school.
After moving to Vancouver, Noreen worked at Mitchell Press, where she met and later married Andy. The couple lived in Victoria, BC, with their five children while Andy served in the Navy. Following a four-year posting in Cold Lake, AB, the family was posted to Beaverlodge.
In Beaverlodge, Noreen ran the Sears Catalog Store for 15 years, where she became affectionately known as “The Sears Lady.” She took great pride in her work and loved connecting with the community.
Noreen enjoyed camping, painting, and golfing. She was a dedicated member of the Legion and served as treasurer for many years. Known for her cheerful spirit and sharp sense of humour, Noreen always welcomed a visit and truly cherished the company of others.
Noreen and Andy were married for 64 years, and she will be sadly missed by him, her daughter Debbie, and her son Michael. Noreen had 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister Cathy, brother Ken, and her daughters Colleen, Susan, and Heather.
As Noreen requested, cremation will take place, and there will be no formal service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses, hospital staff, and healthcare workers in Beaverlodge for the compassionate care they provided to Noreen. Your kindness, dedication, and support meant so much during her time with you, and we are truly grateful for all that you did.
