It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Joan Buckland announces her sudden passing on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 72 years.

Betsy was born on May 20, 1952, in Williams Lake, BC, to parents Thomas and Margaret Howarth. She attended school in Lac La Hache and graduated from Peter Skene Ogden.

In 1969, Betsy began dating Bob Buckland. After living in Vancouver briefly, they returned to the Cariboo in 1972. They exchanged their lifelong vows on March 31, 1973.  Welcoming their first child, Tracey, in January 1975, and Kris followed in February 1978.  Betsy and Bob relocated to Beaverlodge and then to Hythe, AB, in 2018 following Bob’s retirement.

Betsy leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Bob Buckland; daughter Tracey (Greg) Brown; and son Kris (Nicole) Buckland; grandchildren Hailey Brown, Brandon Brown, Aliyah Buckland, and Camron Anstiss; her sisters Lynn (Jim) Scott and Dodie Corsi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family interment will be held prior to the Celebration of Life.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Lac La Hache, BC, on August 16, 2025.
